Los Angeles Clippers Star Chris Paul Will Be Out 3-5 Weeks!!

Bad news for Los Angeles Clippers fans as their star point guard will be out 3-5 weeks with a separated shoulder. It’s bad enough it’s 3-5 weeks but there’s rumors the shoulder could require surgery which would put the star guard out even longer. You always hate to see a great player like  Chris Paul go out but this year the injuries aren’t playing favorites as Russell Westbrook, Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Deron Williams, Al Horford and Derrick Rose have all been out this year. Wishing all players a speedy recovery!

Breaking News: Derrick Rose Has A Torn Meniscus!

drose

Last night Derrick Rose injured his right knee during the third quarter against the Portland Trail Blazers. NBA fans were worried he tore his ACL again, which had him sit out all of the 2012-2013 season. Rose had an MRI Saturday which revealed he tore his meniscus in his right knee and will need surgery. Take a look at the injury below:

It’s also looking like the Bulls are worried about Rose being done for the season as no timetable has been set for his return. This news is coming from ESPN’s Marc Stein

All NBA fans are wishing Derrick Rose a fast recovery!

Chris Paul Is The Best Point Guard In The NBA

cp3

Chris Paul is the best point guard in the NBA. I could tell you, it’s the way he plays, how he finds his teammates and how he leads the Clippers every night but i’m going to tell you with statistics from this season. Yes, the season is just beginning but if you watch a second of ESPN you’ve probably seen a lot of CP3.

For starters, tonight Chris Paul broke Magic Johnson’s record of 11 straight games of 10+ points and 10+ assists. Chris pushed that streak to 12 straight games and will continue the streak tomorrow night against the Thunder.

I’m going to name in my opinion the top 5 point guards, #1 Chris Paul, #2 Tony Parker, #3 Russel Westbrook, #4 Derrick Rose and #5 Kyrie Irving. We can start with season averages first and break it down from there using stats.nba.com.

Chris Paul:             19.5 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 12.6 APG, 26.84 PER

Tony Parker:            18.5 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 6.2 APG, 20.49 PER

Russel Westbrook: 22.8 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 5.1 APG, 18.89 PER

Derrick Rose:          15 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 4.5 APG, 9.33 PER

Kyrie Irving:              21.3 PPG, 4 RPG, 7 APG, 17.68 PER

Paul is ranked in the top 3 in points, the top 2 in rebounds and ranked first in assists and player efficiency ratings. Chris Paul is so efficient. it is the main reason I believe he is the best point guard.

Chris Paul has 103.9 touches per game, compared to the other 4 guards the closest is Kyrie Irving with 84.3 touches per game. Chris Paul also has a total of 139 assists compared to Kyrie Irving at 77 assists. Paul has a total of 21.7 assists opportunities per game compared to Tony Parker at 13.3 assists opportunities per game. Lastly Chris Paul creates 28.6 points per game off of his assists compared to Kyrie Irving at 15.8. As you can see Chris Paul leads all of those categories by a huge margin. Also Derrick Rose and Russel Westbrook, who are mainly scorers, were not second in any of the categories.

Chris Paul has the highest player efficiency rating among point guards in the league, despite having the ball in his hands more than any other point guard in the NBA. A player with the ball that much should not be that efficient, unless they truly are the best at what they do. And in my opinion Chris Paul truly is the best.

Your Favorite Players Play Jingle Bells

Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, James Harden and Steve Nash make shot after shot to recreate the holiday classic Jingle Bells. But it’s Lebron James that is given the solo as he dunks the lob thrown by Nash to end the song. The NBA gets more creative with these Christmas Day commercials every year and they never disappoint.

Vintage D. Rose….. If There’s Such A Thing

In the first ever Derrick Rose Vs Kyrie Irving battle, Derrick was victorious. The Bulls beat the Cavs 96-81 with Rose putting up 16 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists. Rose drove to the basket and made an incredible lay up but did come up limping after the play. Nonetheless both guys had an off night with Kyrie adding 16 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists. Not exactly what we were hoping for but there’s still many more battles to come!
